Pre-AlphaMarcher Houses is still in development. These builds are not publicly released — every download URL on this page is a placeholder until the first real CI artifact ships. Wishlists, save files, and account state are not yet persistent.

Pre-Alpha

Pick the build for your machine.

  • Armies form at a Castle, march toward a destination Charter, and finalize lazily on arrival (Slice 29 Phase 3).
  • Three new endpoints: POST .../armies/form, GET .../armies, POST .../armies/{id}/march.
  • Lazy-materialization invariant preserved — zero new background timers.

Internal pre-alpha milestone build. Closes the M leg of the Build → Recruit → March → Fight gameplay loop.

Raising the Banner on Your Machine

Marcher Houses is an indie pre-alpha build. Until the team procures full code-signing certificates, your operating system will warn you the binary is unrecognized. Here is how to wave past the gate.

8 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended
~500 MB free disk space (plus room for save data)

The client is a thin renderer — gameplay logic runs server-authoritative on the Marcher Houses backend. A stable broadband connection is required.

Past the SmartScreen Gate

  1. Extract MarcherHouses.zip to any folder you control — your Desktop or a dedicated Games\ directory works fine.
  2. Right-click MarcherHouses.exe and pick Properties. If you see a This file came from another computer notice at the bottom, tick Unblock and apply.
  3. Double-click to launch. Windows SmartScreen will warn that the publisher is unrecognized. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. On first launch the client will fetch the latest world data from the backend. Allow a few seconds.

Indie publishers can't afford an EV code-signing certificate on day one. The SmartScreen warning is expected for a pre-alpha build.

Past the Gatekeeper Gate

  1. Open MarcherHouses.dmg and drag the app into your Applications folder.
  2. Open Applications, then right-click (or Control-click) MarcherHouses.app and choose Open.
  3. Gatekeeper will warn that the developer is unidentified. Click Open in the dialog. macOS remembers your choice; subsequent launches are normal double-clicks.
  4. If macOS refuses outright (newer Sequoia + Ventura behaviour), open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the Marcher Houses entry.

Apple Developer Program notarization will land before the first public beta. Until then, the right-click-Open workflow is the documented path for an indie pre-alpha.
